Today I am sharing my favorite picks for chic table lamps. I showed you my spring bedroom refresh a couple of weeks ago, and one of my favorite new additions are the pair of table lamps I added to my nightstands. I chose the Claiborne Table Lamp from Kenroy Home because of its glossy white sleek base.
It measures 28″ high so it is the perfect height for my nightstands.
I love the shape of the base and that it has a drum shade. It has an elegant form and the glossy finish is beautiful. The bright white also pops against my gray backdrop.
I added the trim to the drum shade for a little pop of color. I love these new lamps and they supply the perfect light for reading at night.
Here are my favorite picks from Kenroy Home for chic table lamps:
I absolutely love our new Claiborne Table Lamps. They totally add style and elegance to our master bedroom. I have been eyeing that Burl Table Lamp…maybe for my office. I’ve been searching for a lamp for my desk and I think that might be the one. Don’t you think it would look great on my desk?
What’s your favorite chic table lamp from Kenroy Home?
I’d like to thank Kenroy Home for supplying the lamps for this product review. As always, I only share things I love and all opinions are 100% mine.
Recently, I updated my living room for spring. My living room is a mix of used and new furniture along with a lot of DIY projects. It definitely has a Vintage Eclectic vibe going on. I certainly don’t like to scrimp on style, and sometimes I like to find new affordable pieces that I can work into this space.
The Vintage Eclectic style is for the treasure seeker, which is my bread and butter! I love to hunt my area flea markets and thrift stores for unique and good quality items that I can work into my home. I also like to mix styles. I float between ultra modern to chinoiserie to polished and refined. I like to throw in an element of fun too–something to throw people off a bit. Quirky is good in my opinion. I definitely don’t shy away from refurbishing or updating a piece of furniture either.
While browsing Sauder‘s funitureofferings I was happy to find some affordable options that I could work into my room.
This cabinet has a faux marble top which I love and it would work great as a bar cabinet. The wood adds some comfort and warmth, but the lines are clean and modern. Very eclectic! It’s so great to work in some wood pieces into a room with painted furniture and metal tables. It adds another layer and can cozy up a space. Plus, the price is great for the quality. I think a pair of these would look great on the back wall of my room, flanking each side of my DIY abstract art. It would add some symmetry and balance to the layout of this space.
5 tips for creating a Vintage Eclectic space of your own:
Mix old with new.
Shop flea markets and thrift stores for unique items to work into your space. Look for quality pieces and don’t be afraid to negotiate price. I have never ever paid ticket price at these venues. Dealers will come down on their prices.
Add new, affordable pieces with your older pieces. Look at scale and the lines of a piece of furniture and work in items that flow with your existing items.
DIY special details.
I love to give my decor a custom feel. Add ribbon to lamp shades. Change out hardware on an older furniture items. Paint an accent table a bold color. Paint your own art or frame old vintage book pages. Little special details make all the difference!
Add in some whimsy.
Find something fun and quirky that you love and work it in. This could be a piece of art, a sculpture or figurine. Keep things light and happy. It’s always fun to have a conversation piece when you are entertaining.
Texture, texture, texture!
Texture is your best friend to keep things cozy and warm. You can achieve this feeling by layering in sheepskin rugs, woven baskets, a shag rug, or grass-cloth wallpaper.
Gone are the days when every metal light fixture and door knob have to be matchy-matchy. Mixing metals in a space creates a “collected over time” look and brings a richer quality to your space. Mix bronzed brass with silver. Chrome finishes with duller ones. Brass and copper are huge right now and can warm up any space!

There are two things I feel like I need in my house at all times.
Fresh flowers and scented candles.
Today I am sharing one of my new candle loves Glint Candles. This is such a great concept you guys! Do you ever love the scent of a candle but not the packaging or vice versa? I have that issue. I like my candles to add to my decor and have a scent I love at the same time.
Here’s how Glint Candles works.
• Choose your candle size
• Choose your scent
•Choose your stamp
All candles are 100% soy and handmade with essential oils or high quality soy based fragrance and have a cotton wick.
The fragrance selections are unique and sport fun names like “Quick & Dirty” or “Man of Few Words”. I love the stamp choices too. They are pretty quirky and fun!
Here’s some of my favorites:
I decided to go with their limited edition Valentine’s Day candle. What can I say? I was in a lovey-dovey kind of mood. I choose the Summer Love scent made up of cherry blossom blended with apple, hydrangea, and a splash of peach.
This candle smells pretty tremendous! It smells natural and not too perfume-y. I love cherry blossom and it has just the right mix of fruit and flower added in.

Just one more thing…
I’d love for you to come over to my friend Julia’s blog Cuckoo 4 Design today. I’m blog crashing for her Living Pretty with your Pets series. If you need a quick cute puppy fix– this is where you need to be!
Howdy! Today I am sharing the review of our new Rugs USA area rug. I’m being a little sneaky because this rug is meant for my office, but the office isn’t ready to share yet. I brought it up to the living room and I got to say I really like it in here! It might have to stay here, I don’t know.
I selected the Rugs USA Moroccan Diamond Shag Grey Rug. I chose this rug for a few reasons. I love the look of Moroccan shag rugs. They are so plush and beautiful. I wanted something plush for my office space since it is in the basement and it is cooler down there. I also needed a rug that had gray in it. I loved that this rug had a gray option.
Another plus to this rug is that it comes in a variety of sizes. I selected the 6’7 x 9 size based on my room measurements for the office. As you can see, it also fits nicely in my living room leaving about a foot border of the hardwoods. I love using rugs to anchor and define a space.
Sam is a big fan of this new rug too. Everyone in the fam has been walking on it barefoot because it is so comfy on the footsies!
I love the larger pattern too. It is a nice way to bring in some pattern without being too over-powering.
A lot of Moroccan shag rugs are wool but this one is 100% Polypropylene. So it is ideal if you have kids and pets. Easy to clean and vacuum. Zoey has spent many hours just laying and rolling on it.
Here’s just a few more shots of it in the living room. I am really considering leaving it in here now and doing something different in office. What do you think?
I think I am pretty sold on the fact that I may have to look for something else for the office now. These photos are convincing me!
I would highly recommend ordering from rugsusa.com you guys! They have a great selection and fantastic prices and sales. We are very happy with our new rug!
Plus, now until Feb. 19th thousands of rugs are 70% off plus free shipping!

I thought I’d share with you some our latest thrifty finds and what we’ve been up to this weekend.
We started our fireplace makeover which I am so stoked about! We finalized our mantel plans and started the task of making a level surface on the stone. Here’s the thing about DIY projects…they teach you patience! I am always reminding my kids to be patient. I think pretty much daily around here. I consider myself a somewhat patient person, but I am so anxious to start tiling! The thing is– we can’t rush the prep part. It’s the foundation of our entire project. We have to build a completely flat and level surface before we can start the tiling and it’s taking time. We started Saturday morning with high hopes we’d be tiling by Sunday. Well, that hasn’t happened. We finally are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and should be able to start tomorrow, but it was quite a process to get the surface ready!
So in-between wait times on the fireplace, I finally made some design decisions. Do you remember our hallway I had started? Well, the doors are painted, the trim and baseboards are installed, but it’s not done. I was having some lighting issues. The first fixture I ordered I ended up returning. I was hoping to find something fab around the local thrifting scene, but haven’t had any luck. So, I decided yesterday to order another fixture. Fingers-crossed this one is a winner! I also tried to find a mirror for my fireplace, but I decided I am going to DIY one so I drew up plans for that too.
We had a couple of trips up to Wisconsin in October and got to check out some shops. Here’s a few of our latest finds that have made their way inside our home.
I found this new little deer buddy at TJ Maxx for $5.99. I think he will make a perfect key hook in our entry way.
While at the cabin, I snagged a bundle of birch logs for $3. I love them. Growing up, my Grandma always had some by her fireplace.
I also added to my plaid stadium blanket collection with this one for $13. Never seen it before, it’s going to be my go-to outdoor blanket for bonfire nights.
Switching gears to holiday time, I found these awesome appetizer plates at Target the other day as I was doing my grocery shopping ofcourse! I’m glad I needed batteries on the other side of the store and saw these on my way. The set is priced at $19.99 which is pretty darn good.
This pair of vintage brass deer were only $6 at an antique store. I think we’re on a mission to see how many gold animals we can fit on our bookcases. If you think they are just decorative they are not, I assure you! Sam on a daily basis plays with them. So, you see, they are pretty and serve a purpose. That’s how I justify adding to the gold animal menagerie.
I also have been thinking about holiday time, so I brought the sequins pillow back out. It’s not new, but has been in storage since last Christmas. I can’t help myself, but it’s going to be a gold, silver, and black Christmas again! I love to change things up, but I haven’t tired of this combo yet for holiday time.
I may even do a holiday craft today if I get the time!
Remember our little visit to The Tile Shop a while back? Well, one of the projects we are going to tile is our fireplace. We just found out our tile is in and we get to pick it up this weekend! You can’t see me, but I’m doing my happy dance!
While we get started on our fireplace makeover, I thought I’d share with you our new fireside chairs.
DHP furniture offers a line of affordable, stylish, and kid-friendly furniture that’s great for a family like ours. We chose the Gray and White Trellis Pattern Accent Chairs to use by our fireplace. Eventually, the fireplace will be white with some marble tile, so we thought some pattern would look great against it.
The chairs are a microfiber fabric which is easy to clean when little fingers decide to make a mess. They are also really comfortable and have a low enough back for sitting by the fire.
The legs are solid wood and have a rubber bottom so they don’t scratch your floors.
We just added the sheepskin and needlepoint pillow for fall. You can purchase these chairs here.
I am so excited to get going on this fireplace! Also, I am so glad it will be finished before the holidays for all of us to enjoy. I will have a mantle to hang our stockings on.
I thought I’d share some other products from the DHP furniture website that I really like. The thing to love about this furniture is the affordable price and that it is made with children and families in mind.
So Sunday was the first official day of fall. Did you get the memo? After I dropped Sam off at preschool last Friday, I stopped into Target and they were putting out the new fall home decor. It was tempting. Here’s some of my favorite finds from Target to help you bring some cozy fall touches into your home.
We celebrated the beginning of fall this weekend with a trip to the apple orchard. We have been doing this with the kids for quite a while and they always get excited to go. Here’s some of the highlights. Happy Fall!!!!!
Now, 3 of us are sick here which is no fun. It’s the icky kind of sick too. Yep, that one. So, this week may play out a little differently. I thought I’d share with you some of our recent thrifty finds. We love to go to flea markets, antique shops, and thrift stores to find pieces for our home. It’s something Dave and I love to do together when we have a free Saturday.
This guy is hands down my favorite find from our last trip to the flea market.
I get made fun of by my friends for purchasing this. Here’s my argument. Not only is it sculptural and hauntingly beautiful, it could be used as a weapon if an intruder broke into our home. It weighs about 40 pounds. You throw that baby at somebody and they’re not getting up. Form meets function. I’ve seen these at garden centers and in upscale home stores with a pretty hefty price tag. Like $200-$400 each. I knew what this was when I saw it and snatched it up for $30. I also spray painted him gleaming white and he will live in my office when it is finished.
I also scored some more blue and white for my collection. This guy was only $2 at a rummage sale. That’s crazy!
This giant hand-made blanket was $1. It is heavy, made for tall people like me, and I love the black and white stripes. It looked unused and I just gave it a good washing and everyone loves it.
These brass deer candlesticks were $2 at that rummage sale. I’m thinking holiday something with these.
We also hit the quirky mug jackpot! We have a dream of having our cabin in the next five years. If it does happen we are totally going to use these mugs there. If it doesn’t happen we will plan for in 10 years and drink coffee out of these mugs while we talk about it.
You saw our gallery wall and this cutting board we used as art. It was only 50 cents and the perfect addition to our wall. It even has the heart where we live.
Last but certainly not least–books. I always check out books for our library. The rummage sale had some good ones and only for 50 cents each.
So there’s another “This is Why I Thrift” post for ya!
