I just finished a project that I need to write-up, so I thought today I’d share a few of the moments from our magical birthday weekend in the cabin. It was just the perfect setting to really relax and enjoy spending time together. There was no need to get all dolled up. We all had messy hair and wore sweaters and jammies most of the time. It was fantastic! We ate really good food and didn’t worry about it being healthy-which is totally allowed on your birthday. We hiked the trails, had a bonfire, and played games. We told ghost stories at night and enjoyed our mornings sipping coffee in our beautiful surroundings.
Here’s a few of my favorite shots from our weekend:
One of the bedrooms had this line from a poem by Lewis Carroll painted on the walls. In the morning the sun made it glow and it was a sweet moment seeing Sam fast asleep underneath it.
Through this window you can see the porch that we enjoyed in the morning.
On our hike there were still some beautiful colors to see…
I love this shot of Dave and Sam in the woods…
Here’s the birthday boy…so handsome and photogenic!
Here’s a photo the now 10-year-old took of us.
I just love the way the sun was shining through the trees in this window shot…
Here’s the cozy spot we spent our Sunday morning talking and having coffee…
It was definitely a weekend that we will all treasure. We have already been talking about when we will make it back there again.
Just a reminder that you can still enter to win a MINI Templeton from White Faux Taxidermy as seen in our fall bedroom refresh below:

Nothing like sipping some chocolate goodness on a cold winter’s night! Here’s my cocoa bar for this holiday. I think there is nothing better than some hot cocoa with some Bailey’s and whipped cream, but whatever your fancy, setting up a cocoa bar for entertaining guests is a great idea. It’s super fun for kids too, just skip the alcohol.
Candy Cane Cocoa
1 serving of your favorite cocoa or mix (I love Nestle’s Rich Hot Chocolate)
1 shot of Peppermint Schnapps
Crushed Candy Canes on top
Irish Hot Chocolate
1 serving of hot chocolate
1 shot of Bailey’s Irish Cream
On a side note, to make my bar cart more interesting I added black satin ribbon on top.

Our weekend was busy and full of festivities. We enjoyed a holiday party Friday night and a holiday parade and some kid activities Saturday. In my hometown, we have a charity event that has grown into a holiday tradition. It supports the area arts and has a week full of holiday fun. It always marks the beginning of the holiday season for me.
I hope you all enjoyed your weekend! Now I am ready to dive back into the world of design, DIY, and home remodeling.
Day 20 of the countdown
The 25 days until fall is rolling along! Thanks for all your enthusiasm as I continue to post fallspiration. I love that we can all be crazy about the season together!
All that glitters is gold…
I am in love with black and gold tablescapes presently. This is my take on a golden harvest table.
This is how this breaks down. First the linens. I used just a white cotton table cloth and a black cotton runner. The place settings are just gold glittered chargers with a basic white china and linen napkins. I love monograms, so of course, we had to include that. (Thanks, Amy!)
The leaves are craft leaves that you can pick up for 99 cents a pack at a craft store. I just spray-painted them metallic gold.
The pumpkins are the spray-painted the same.
The little votives are from the dollar store and sold in a four pack.
The creamy white roses add elegance. I kept all details gold including the vase which catches the light of the candles.
Have a great Labor Day!
I’ll be linking to this link party soon:

It’s the 25 Days Until Fall Countdown.
Let the countdown continue!
Here’s a fall inspired tablescape. Grays and whites keep it muted and the pop of orange stands out boldly. A white-painted branch, pumpkins, and leaves add the seasonal details. Candlesticks, plates, and pedestal bowls all work as stands for the pumpkins.
Here’s a quick tip when you need a new table runner but don’t have the time to go get one. Take an old table runner and simply tape fabric to it with painter’s tape. No one will be the wiser and you can really add some interest to your tablescape.
A simple and fun table for your fall entertaining!

I am thrilled to share with you the new website of a very talented designer! Chances are, if you are a home design fanatic, you are a fashion fanatic too. I know I am! Design is art in its finest form. Whether it be on canvas, an interior, or on the runway. This, my friends, is what Studio 910 exhibits in every one of the handmade fascinators they create. The artistry and attention to detail is phenomenal. They possess all the things I love in good design– form, pattern, texture, and BLING!

Sometimes simplicity is best…especially when you don’t have a lot of time to spend making, planning, etc. Just some easy simplicity for the holiday today.
Just use what you have. Cut some flowers and put them in a vase. Those little flags they sell everywhere this time of month are an easy way to decorate.
Enjoy nature! Enjoy that yard that you work so hard on all summer long!
Throw the essentials in a basket to have ready when the sun goes down.
Get those kids in on the fun of the holiday and share why today is celebrated.
Happy 4th from our house to yours!!
