Get Your Own Custom Candle by Glint Candles and a GIVEAWAY!!

There are two things I feel like I need in my house at all times.

Fresh flowers and scented candles.

Today I am sharing one of my new candle loves Glint Candles. This is such a great concept you guys! Do you ever love the scent of a candle but not the packaging or vice versa? I have that issue. I like my candles to add to my decor and have a scent I love at the same time.

Here’s how Glint Candles works.

• Choose your candle size

• Choose your scent

•Choose your stamp

All candles are 100% soy and handmade with essential oils or high quality soy based fragrance and have a cotton wick.

The fragrance selections are unique and sport fun names like “Quick & Dirty” or “Man of Few Words”. I love the stamp choices too. They are pretty quirky and fun!

Here’s some of my favorites:

I decided to go with their limited edition Valentine’s Day candle. What can I say? I was in a lovey-dovey kind of mood. I choose the Summer Love scent made up of cherry blossom blended with apple, hydrangea, and a splash of peach.

Glint Candles Love Heart Candle

This candle smells pretty tremendous! It smells natural and not too perfume-y. I love cherry blossom and it has just the right mix of fruit and flower added in.

Diamond Candles + a GIVEAWAY!!

Today I am sharing my review of a Diamond Candles scented candle and you will have a chance to win a Diamond Candles scented candle of your choice!

Have you heard of Diamond Candles yet? Diamond Candles are scented natural soy candles that have a ring inside. Don’t you just love that?! The ring could be a real diamond ring! The rings are valued at $10, $100, $1000, or $5000! When I was offered the chance to review one of their candles I jumped at the chance. I love scented candles and I love jewelry so it sounds like a win-win to me!

I chose the Cupcake scented candle to review for a couple reasons. First, it is orange and has pink on the label. Hello, fave color combo right now! Also, I am on a diet and am not eating sweets right now, so the smell of a sweet cupcake can fill the air since I’m not baking at the moment.

Oooooh! What could it be?

I love lighting scented candles around my house. It is a daily ritual around here. I couldn’t wait to see what was inside this one!

Too bad you can’t smell this through your computer screen! It smells delicious, but isn’t too overpowering. It also burns really clean and even.

Here’s what was inside…

Not a diamond, but pretty none the less.

Today, we are revealing our Week 2 Urban Outfitters projects! So, lets’ get right to it!

Inspired Design Challenge

As I revealed last Friday, my project is based off this Urban Outfitters image:

Did you guess right? I wanted to copy cat this for our patio makeover. I found a metal birdcage at Goodwill for a couple bucks. I’ve actually had this on hand since last fall, but it needed a new home.

If you’ve been seeing my teasers on Instagram you know that our patio makeover is bright. So, I chose to use flourescent pink spray paint.

After a couple coats I added a grocery store citronella candle to the base and it was ready for the patio. This only cost me $7 total for everything.

Day 21 “Scents” and Sensibility

The 25 Days of Fall Countdown

Day 21

One of my hands down favorite things about fall, is the warmth of candles and the scent of fresh apples. Slatkin & Co. has one of my favorite fall scents for my home appropriately titled “Autumn”. It smells of the apple orchard and everything else that is wonderful about fall.

There is an apple orchard where I live that we visit every year and they have an apple barn that they sell their treats in and it smells exactly like this scent!

I also did my own take on an idea from my friend, Jeni.

This is an image from her home:

Enjoy the holiday!

Another fun post for today:

3 Things…

Happy Wednesday, Everyone!

Every Wednesday, I will be posting three things I am in love with that you can run out and buy today if your little heart desires.

My 3 things this week are:

1.  Gray & White Zebra Bath Mat from Target

Sold at most Target stores for $24.99. I am using it in my kitchen as a sink rug.

2. ReKindle Super Soy Melts

These burn clear, can be cleaned out with soap and water, and cost less than Scentsy. As an added bonus they have awesome names! Check out their website

They have flameless tart burners, a whole line of drip free candles, and many other products. One of these tarts, burns in my tea light burner from Yankee Candle and scents the living room in seconds. And just to note that “Monkey Farts” smells of bananas and coconut. Perfect scent for summer!

3.  The July issue of BHG featuring one of my favorite Home/DIY bloggers Emily A. Clark!

Pick it up on newstands now!

Happy shopping!

DIY Mercury Glass

I love mercury glass and have started collecting it. I am helping with a wedding in the next year and thought it would look very pretty at the reception for votive holders and vases. The only problem is the hefty price tag. So, I thought I’d try my hand at making my own.

For this DIY you will need:

A glass vase, dish, or candle holder. This one is a cheapo from the dollar store.

vinegar & water & a spray bottle. Mix half water and half vinegar.

Krylon Looking Glass Spray from the craft store.

Step 1:  Spray the inside with Looking Glass Spray.

Spray lightly about 5 coats, drying 1 minute between coats. This was a tight squeeze so I had some running, but it was okay because it was the inside.

Step 2:  Distress it!

Spray vinegar/water mixture lightly. It will bead. Let sit for about 20-30 secs and lightly use a paper towel and wipe and blot.

3.  Repeat! Repeat steps 1 & 2 on the outside until you acheive the desired effect.

4.  Spray light coat of Looking Glass Spray over the outside.

Let dry 1 hour before handling.

And the result…

Beautiful faux mercury glass. I placed it next to some of my real mercury glass pieces and I think it turned out pretty darn good!

I think that will work for the wedding :)
