“There’s a friendly tie of some sort between music and eating.” -Thomas Hardy
Hi Everyone! I hope you all enjoyed your Valentine’s Day. Today, I’m sharing the Glam Dinner Table I set up for our Valentine’s night at home.
When the kids were young, we started the tradition that we stay in on Valentine’s Day. Basically, we use this holiday as an excuse to make a really indulgent pasta dish and pull out the finer china. It’s become one of our favorite family traditions. We cook Vodka Cream Pasta, play Sinatra, and enjoy our sweet family. We end the night with dessert by the fire.
This year, it really snuck up on me with the move and not having all our boxes unpacked yet! Also, we have a VERY BARE formal dining room in this house and have yet to shop for furniture for it. I am excited to have that space though. Seriously, I can’t wait to make it a lovely place to entertain and have holiday meals in!
Anyways, back to Valentine’s Day…
So… We ended up using our little tulip table in the breakfast nook. Using pieces I had on hand, I made a sweet and rather glam table for us. Not bad for a last minute job!
Here’s our glam dinner table from our Valentine’s Day dinner this week…
And…As you can see, I have yet to recover the other two chairs! That’s on my to-do list this weekend now that we are somewhat set up in the new house now.
I mixed my Mikasa Parchment china with my thrifted Greek key plates.
My Target find gold flatware has held up perfectly this past year. I was a bit nervous since it was a cheap buy, but I haven’t had any issues with it. I’ve been pretty careful though and I only use it for more formal occasions. Also, I ONLY hand-wash it, so that might be the reason it still looks so good. The napkins are from Target too, but only offered in stores.
It was a really special and low-key evening at home. It’s fun to bring our family traditions here to Connecticut. Everything seems exciting and new somehow. I was reminded that I am so very lucky to have these guys who love me so much. There isn’t a day that I am not grateful for that! Even though, our house feels like such a mess–all that doesn’t matter. And, yes, there is so much to do…(like get window coverings and well…makeover EVERY SINGLE ROOM!) But…all the things on that new to-do list seemed to fade as we enjoyed our night in this special new home.

Have a fab day lovelies!
