Last Friday, I had the pleasure of sharing my little guy’s room makeover with all of you for the Fall in Love room reveals hosted by Primitive & Proper. You can see the entire reveal of his modern kids room here.
I made a DIY Cross Wall that was inspired by the Pia Wallén Crux blanket that little guy really liked.
Today, I wanted to share how I made his cross wall. It was a bit difficult at first since the walls in his room are textured. Painting designs on them is a pain and decals just don’t work. I tried washi tape but that wouldn’t hold. I found the perfect solution!
Drum roll please…
Yes, electrical tape was the perfect fit! It was easy to work with and held to the textured walls without coming off. You can also reposition it, so if you don’t get it right the first time you can try again.
Up close you can see how it took the shape of what it was covering with no bubbling at all. It was the perfect solution!
For each cross I cut 2 strips 4 inches each.
On the wall, the spacing was designed to fit my particular wall so you would have to figuire out the right spacing for yours. I spaced each row 3 inches from the top. Each cross is spaced 10 inches.
As you can see I did my own tweaks based off the original design. I wanted the crosses slimmer and I also chose to stagger them for my desired look.
I also want to note that my husband got his start as an electrician, so we know our electrical tape…(so we got that going for us, ha!)…I guess we are electrical tape snobs. I used Scotch Super 33+ Vinyl Electrical Tape and you can pick it up at the Home Depot or your closest home improvement store. It has the best stick factor. One roll almost did the entire wall. It’s a super inexpensive way to get the look. I think I paid $5.99 a roll.
We have been enjoying playing and creating in little man’s room! I think the look on his face says it all!
Thanks for all your sweet comments on his room reveal. It has been one of my favorite rooms to work on so far.

I’ll be back with some more DIY projects from his space and a full source list soon.
