October, I miss you already! It’s my favorite. We trick-or-treated with the kids last night and the fall colors are at their peak around here so it just makes walking the neighborhood such a pleasure. Our October was a busy one with all the trips and birthdays, so November we plan on getting back at all these rooms we are working on.
Here’s our October recap and what’s ahead for Bliss at Home:
Around the House
The holidays will be here before we know it! Also, the cold weather if you live in that part of the country that gets a real winter. We’ll be busy getting our nest cozy for the season. Here’s what you can expect this month around our casa.

Here are our September highlights. Let’s get to it!

What’s Coming || October
That is perfectly said, isn’t it? October is my favorite month. It’s the most beautiful for weather and fall colors around my part of the country. It’s also my birthday month. I’m all about birthdays. I’m totally Lily from “How I Met Your Mother” when it comes to my day. Sad but true!
We have quite a bit going on this month!! Here’s our upcoming projects and goals, but I’m sure a lot of these will carry over into November too.

Dun, Dun, Dun, Dun…
Another month bites the dust!
And another month gone! And another month gone!
OK, sorry about the play on Queen…I can explain…I used to like to listen to my Dad’s records…who am I kidding I still like to…
August is over…I am not sorry to say that I am a bit glad about that. I DO NOT LIKE HEAT. I DO NOT LIKE HUMIDITY. My forecast for September 2nd says a high of 78 degrees. I am down with that!
Here’s what happened in August. I like to do these little monthly recaps. First off, they make me realize that I actually got a lot done! I like to feel accomplished from time to time. They also give you guys a chance to catch something you may have missed or want to see again. Also, if you are new to Bliss at Home, Welcome! I am so glad you are here!!

September we are refocusing a lot of our energy on the interior of the house. We had some furniture switcheroos last weekend that prompted some more projects. Imagine that! Here’s what we are working on for September.
•Gallery Wall Reveal•
(Ahem…Look at me! Big blogger! I have an office now! All joking aside, I am super excited to work on this space!)
•Starting the Bathroom Reno•
A little overly ambitious maybe…but what can I say we have a lot to get done around here! Of course, there will be some fall decor projects, furniture makeovers, and other things sprinkled in there too. Bring on September!
July left quicker than it arrived! I feel like the countdown to school has now begun. A little clock is ticking in my head and reminding me of everything I must do before the kids go back to school. I just got done signing the boys up for fall sports and making physical appointments. Pretty soon we’ll be buying pencils and new school clothes. It’s like August is just a reminder that September is almost here. I really want to enjoy our last month of summer though.
Well, enough of that rambling…
This week will be a little different, since I will be leaving for Haven Wednesday. I won’t be posting as much, but I may pop in here and there!
Let’s recap the month, shall we? If you missed something or want to revisit something here are the links.
I just loved the DIY’s I got done around here this month. This Inspired Design Challenge has really sparked some creativity! Inside the house, our foyer has been getting a facelift and you can see how we made our own DIY chandelier with a shade by using the existing ceiling fixture. I also spruced up some old photo frames with this snake skin duct tape DIY.
Outdoors we have been working on our patio and I showed how you can DIY your way through a beautiful summer dinner party. I also gave a Goodwill find an updated look by making a birdcage into a candle holder to use outside.
Our latest DIY was a family affair. The boys helped me paint our latest masterpiece a DIY version of the West Elm Black + White Abstract Art. We made our own canvas and did it all for under $15.
Around the House.
July was a month of organizing, bargains, and tackling those little projects around the house. I shared my new favorite source for beautiful outdoor pillows on Etsy. I banished more oak woodwork and painted our coat closet door and installed a thrifted swing arm wall lamp in our living room. Our foyer makeover is coming along and I found the perfect jute rug at World Market on a surprise shopping trip. I am so happy to be bringing some color into our master bedroom with a few new items from Target. At last, we have a great storage solution for our summer pool toys using the new Rubbermaid All Access Organizers.
I have been having such a great time being a part of the Inspired Design Challenge! We are now working on our projects for Week 4 and will be revealing them on Monday. Week 4 is Anthropologie so you know it’s going to be good!
I also want to thank Brittany of Brittany Makes for having me blog crash and be part of her Summer VIP Guest Blog Series.
Brittany is one of my fave DIY’ers and I just love her style. You must check out her Project Gallery. One of my favorites is her Craigslist Dresser Makeover.
I will be leaving for the Haven Conference tomorrow! Excited doesn’t sum it up…there isn’t a word for it. I am going to try to blog a bit while we are gone, but I can’t make any promises. I may be MIA until Aug. 5th. We’ll see how it goes.
This was such a fun-filled month over here! Summer is in full swing and we are enjoying the pool, outdoor nights, and grilling! I am always in “project mode” but summer is project mode on steroids. Maybe it’s the vitamin D, or maybe I have seasonal disorder, but I just want to tackle more things this time of year. Then, you have garage sales, flea markets, and antique shows! That just adds to the inspiration.
Looking back at June, I love that I have been getting to things that have been on the list forever.
Hands down my all-time love this month is the library wall! I have wanted a library in our home for so long and I am so happy with how all our plans and work turned out.
It was our first part of our 3 part Let’s Rock This House! series. We are working on Pimp My Patio right now and I am itching to show you guys a sneak peek!

As I said, I felt overly productive this month and here are the DIY projects I tackled:
I stenciled our foyer wall with a stencil from Royal Design Studios. We are banishing the ugly out of the entrance of our house. Don’t forget to enter the Royal Design Studios Giveaway on Monday and win a stencil of your own!
A free little stool got the glam treatment with fur and gold.
I made some DIY Butterfly Art for the Summer Celebration series.
I had the pleasure of guest posting over my buddy Sarah’s blog Lacquer & Linen. I shared a little trash to treasure project turning an old junky silverware box into a stationery box.
The kids and I did a little project together turning cheap placemats into chalkboards.
Around the House.
Our entry way is now home to my desk and it works nicely there.
I added a couple DIY projects to the bedroom.
We had another fun family treasure hunt and here are my latest thrifty finds.
There is a new little Cadwallader. Funny thing, you go to buy fish and come home with a puppy. Yes, we forgot to get the fish! Zoey is our sweet little puppy and we are all in love with her!
I also had my first Blog-o-versary. I turned 1 on June 1st! We celebrated and had a giveaway in honor of all you awesome readers who make this so much fun!
Just incase you want to come for a visit, there is a new home tour at the top menu bar. I glanced at that the other day and realized I needed to update that puppy!
July is going to be full of patio pimpin’, a couple new giveaways, a foyer makeover, and more! I hope you are all enjoying your summer!!

May was a fast month for me. Was it for you? I feel like I missed it! I am so glad to be on summer vacation with the kids!! I love having both of them at home together. It never lasts long enough though. They are changing so fast, I don’t want to miss anything.
I want to thank all of you for your sweet comments, shares, and support. If you are new to Bliss at Home I’d love to get to know you. Leave a comment and I promise to respond.
Saturday I turn 1!! Can you believe it? This little blog of mine is having a birthday. As with all birthdays there will be gifts. Gifts for you! I am doing a giveaway of some of my favorite things starting tomorrow. I just wanted to do something fun to commemorate my birthday and share the love you guys always show me. This is not a sponsored giveaway, just something I put together to give you. So don’t miss it, and enter starting tomorrow morning. The boys will be selecting a winner when the giveaway closes.
Here’s our May. Our big announcement for summer is the Let’s Rock This House! series. We will be revealing the results of Pimp My Library Wall next week and have started working on Pimp My Patio. Dave and I are having so much fun! I am keeping track of how many times I use the word pimp in a post. I got to tell you, the library wall is awesome!! If you want to get behind the scenes you can follow us on Instagram #rockthishouse.
A lot of our time has been dedicated to the library wall so this was not a jam-packed DIY month. We did plant a raised herb garden complete with a gnome. The kids and I also used Lullaby Chalkboard Paint to transform thrifted art into a chalkboard. We can use it for art, a menu board, and Sam loves to draw on it on the floor.
OUT & ABOUT.
We invaded our closest IKEA to get those BILLY bookcases and a few other items made it home with us. You can see all our IKEA shenanigans here.
AROUND THE HOUSE.
We’ve been thrifting a lot this past month. We have been having fun as a family finding books that interest us for our library wall. A few other things have wondered home with us too.
So, that’s May. Our June schedule is looking good. We have a couple big reveals planned, more DIY’s, and some really great products and giveaways to share.
Enjoy your weekend and don’t forget to check back tomorrow to enter the Bliss at Home Birthday Giveaway!!

We had 80 degree weather yesterday!! 80 degrees!! That was awesome. It’s not supposed to stick around but I actually worked in my mini-garden yesterday and planted some herbs. There will be more on that Monday along with an exciting giveaway!
As for April, we got a lot done around here! We finally selected a countertop for the kitchen remodel, I did a couple of months worth of DIY’s to have a workspace in our livingroom, and we added some spring touches to brighten it up indoors. I just have to say– I am so ready for May! Our yard needs some serious tending to! This weekend we are off to Ikea to purchase our bookshelves for the library wall (insert happy applause here) I’ve been going on about.
I also would like to thank each one of you who follow daily, weekly, monthly, and are brand new to Bliss at Home. I treasure every share and comment you leave.
Here’s the April recap incase you missed something or want to revisit something again:
To liven things up in the living room I spray painted my accent table peacock blue. I showed you how I made my no sew fabric storage cubes out of old toy storage from our playroom. I revamped a broken tray and made it into a lacquered mint bar tray to use on our bar cart. My favorite of the month is my DIY desk makeover reveal. I love having a nice place to work at that fits in with the flow of our room.
With my first blog conference just a few months away I shared how I made my own business cards. This really was so easy!
We brought some spring touches in with orchids, some pops of blue, and I moved my DIY fabric art over the couch which looks much better! My JESSEd home white ostrich bar tray looks great on our coffee table. I love it! I also got to see the new Jonathan Adler Happy Chic collection at JCP and picked up these greek key coffee mugs. For the guest room, we are using this sweet little Pottery Barn pocket watch clock on the nightstand.
Project in Progress.
Our April Project in Progress was my workspace in the living room. I am so happy to have a place to work from that is right in the hub of the house.
By using items we already had and a couple of thrift store finds, I now have a space that reflects my taste and keeps my work tucked away when it’s not in use.
For May, our Project in Progress is the library wall. We are off to Ikea this weekend to get the bones for the project. I have always wanted a library in our house and this is so exciting for all of us! The kids are trying to talk us into a ladder…
I also would like to thank She Knows for featuring our bedroom and the DIY Club for selecting our Desk Makeover Tutorial for their April contest winner!
We have some great things planned for May. With the weather finally getting nice around here, you can expect to see some outdoor projects too.
