Are you guys ready for some thrifty finds?!?
I don’t know what my deal has been lately, but by the end of the day I am done! I have felt so tired, but there is so much to do I really can’t afford to be right now. To break up my normal day, I decided to change things up a bit and plan some time for some fun– some penny-pinching fun!
I have a lot of rooms to find decor for right now. Both the boys bedrooms, our bathroom, and my office. Thursday, Sam and I headed out for a day of treasure hunting around some of our favorite local shops…and it did not disappoint.
My hands down favorite find of the day is this brass antelope. I love love love when I find decor like this for just a few dollars! It’s solid brass and it just has a sexy vibe. I totally dig it and it had to come home with me.
I love it in my office, and I think it’s a great spot at the current moment since those antlers could impale a child around here.
I scored another piece of round cut stone for $1.25 at the Salvation Army. It appears to have been part of a little accent table. I found another one of these last year and I love to use them as trays. I also have plans to turn one into a plant stand soon.
I grabbed another fish bowl vase for my desk too. I think they are perfect for arranging roses.
Since we are in “bathroom reno mode” right now, I was happy to find this vintage lucite towel bar. It was only $8 at a flea market. The hardware needs a little cleaning but it is in great shape and even more beautiful in person. It will look so great with the marble tile.
Last but not least, I found something for Sam’s bedroom makeover. A few months back, I sat down with him and did a little “design consultation” and he totally surprised me with what he likes and wants for his room.
He is requesting all white walls and wants black and white decor. We are also mixing in some natural wood tones and copper. He totally has the hippest decor taste of any 5-year-old I know. He wants lots of animals and a guitar too. We have already purchased him a teepee from off his list and there are some other fun details that I am going to save for later.
This little stool is so perfect for the vibe his room is taking. He drags the bathroom stool into his room all the time to sit on. So, this was so great because now he has one for his room. Sam thinks it is a pterodactyl and it totally sold him on wanting it. For $6 we couldn’t pass it up. The tribal vibe, colors, and warm wood tones are perfect.
This warmer weather is totally putting me into treasure-seeking mode!! I don’t know about you, but I am ready to get my hunt on!!!
Shavonda is one talented designer and such a sweet friend! I always enjoy a visit to her site and I know you will too! Here’s just at taste of her talent…
