Our Valentine’s Celebration

Happy Monday Friends!

So, I am still coming off my Valentine’s Day high. We had a wonderful dinner and evening. It was so relaxing! I took my time cooking. We shared a beautiful meal and time together. You may have already caught some of the fun on Instagram.

Here’s a few of the highlights…

After running around getting the goods for the night and stopping in at the kids’ school, we dropped by the local candy store. This place is AMAZING. All the candies are made on site and use all natural ingredients. No dyes (they have natural ways to color if they need to), no preservatives, even 40-50% less sugar than most chocolates. They even have gluten-free options. And hello! Chocolate covered bacon!! We had to get some to take home. I don’t think you can do Valentine’s Day without chocolates.

After a stop at the chocolate store, we picked up Zoey from the groomers. She had a little puppy spa day, and I couldn’t resist…I had to…

Once we got home we started getting the house ready. The boys really just gobbled candy from their school parties while I picked up the house and took breaks to hug Zoey. And I apologize, some of these photos aren’t the best quality, but my kids love to snap pictures!

love Zoey My little chef helped me get the food ready.

Dave’s flight came in on time so he was able to be home in time for dinner. I was so thankful because we weren’t sure if the weather would let up. We exchanged gifts about 10 secs after he walked in the door. We all missed him so much!

Now it was time for the moment we were all waiting for…the Vodka Cream Pasta! I only make this on Valentine’s Day unless someone requests it for their birthday. It is super NOT HEALTHY and a nice indulgence. Get the recipe here.

In these moments, I think about how these times are fleeting. One day my boys will be grown and out of the house. I am so glad that Dave and I forego the romantic over-priced dinner out and do this with our boys. Nothing makes me happier than seeing their faces light up and knowing that we are making them feel loved.

Thanks Julia 🙂 I never thought I’d be one to dress a dog up, but it was too stinking cute not to! xo Kristin
