Today we are showing you our Foyer Reveal!! Can I just say I love having people come to my front door now…
So, we challenged ourselves to try to stay under$100 for this makeover. Did we do it?
Do you remember what it looked like?
There was nothing good going on here, that’s for sure!
The first thing we addressed was the wall. It was dark and unattractive. Before I start any project, I check my storage area and see if there is anything I can reuse before I go out and buy more. I wanted to stick to a black and white color scheme. By painting it white and stenciling a pattern on the wall it is now bright and interesting. I used left over paint from painting our dining area and black paint left over from my desk makeover. We also took off the old oak baseboard and added a new taller one that matches what we have been adding into other parts of the house and painted white. This cost us $9. So far not a huge dent.
The next thing we addressed was the old ceiling fixture. Rather than replace it, I decided that the gold brass works with the look and decided to add a shade and some chandy crystals to it.
This cost $20 total. Not bad! Now we are at $29…
Next, I tackled the door. The front door needs to be replaced in all honesty, but that will be a project for another time. So, to make it work I painted it the same white and added the brass corner hardware to it. We had a piece of baseboard in our scrap pile that we could cut to size for the wall. So this only cost $8. Total so far $37.
We also had enough paint leftover to paint the brick white. I love it painted. We added in our gallery wall. This was a minimal cost to us. The only thing that cost us money was a couple thrifted frames, the thrifted Illinois cutting board, and the black and white art we made. This totaled $23. Now we are at $80.
The last thing left was the old floor. I was going to paint it, but then as chance would have it, I got a gift card to World Market and was able to get a jute rug. So technically, it was no extra cost to me, but if you wanted to go purchase this rug it is $59.99. The only reason I did was because I had the gift card. So our $80 total is in tact! Under $100, we did it!!
Now, we are onto our next project in this house– the fireplace. Just in time for the cold weather. Maybe it will be done before our first time we want to use it.
