I just printed out the school supply lists and will be taking the kids back to school shopping soon. That means summer is over for us. Which means it is okay to start thinking about fall and fall decor. At least, that is how I work it out in my head.
Now, I know some of you love summer. I’ve grown to appreciate it more, but my heart has always belonged to fall. I blame this in part on my birthday. I’m an October baby. I am not a warm weather person. I only like to sweat when I’m working out, not when I step outside my house. I prefer crisp autumn air and cold winter days to hotness and humidity. I start to feel more alive when fall weather is here. I’ve always been that way and it has never changed.
In honor of my thoughts going to a fall state of mind (even though the hot temperatures have come back this week…grrrrr), I am sharing my favorite fall projects from last season. I am also going to share what I am loving for fall 2013.
I embraced gold a lot last season, I think that is going to continue into fall 2013 for me. My favorite projects are the leaf framed art, the feather art and the black, gold, and white tablescape. I still think these are all relevant for 2013. I’ve seen feathers pop up more and more in my favorite retail stores.
If you follow me on Pinterest, you may have been seeing I’m a little fall pin-happy right now! Here’s some things I’m loving for fall 2013 home decor.
I’m really feeling the white pumpkins this year. I love them!
For me, fall decor is simplicity. I don’t do a lot of knickknack decor or stuff a fall pumpkin on every table and shelf. Branches in a vase are pretty perfect.
I think more about adding in more texture. Fur, wools, and wood. I’m obsessed with the idea of making some wood slice art.
One thing I really want to make with the kids are these crayon leaves.
I think I’m also going to do my own take on these paint-dipped acorns.
