Living Room BEFORE & AFTER

livingroom b & a1

Sometimes when you are constantly working on your house, you don’t realize how far you’ve come. Our living room is not completely finished but it has changed so much in a year! I am really loving how this room is evolving.

Before we started the transformation this room was, well, BLAND!!!! We started our home remodel with our bedroom. This room sat untouched for quite a while. It lacked style and color. It was pretty much a blank slate. I remember just throwing some things we had on the wall just so it wouldn’t be so plain.

B & A Living room

It’s come a long way. We’ve painted, made a library wall, did a lot of furniture makeovers and DIY projects, changed the light fixtures, changed the curtains and rug, and have added a lot of accent pieces.

There are just a few more things to do to finish out this space.

Living Room To-Do List

Replace the rest of the baseboards

Paint window wall

Reupholster fireside chairs

Reface fireplace & add mantle

Change out outlets & covers

No kidding, reupholstering the chairs is not something I am looking forward to. I have never recovered more than a chair cushion so I have a huge learning curve, but I am going to give it a go! I got the pair of chairs for $15 at Goodwill so I won’t be completely heartbroken if I mess it up! DIY is definitely a learn as you go experience in this house. I wish I could fly Jennifer from The Chronicles of Home over to hold my hand and wipe my tears as I try my own hand at reupholstering!

I also would like to thank Shannon over at Blogger Homes for featuring our living room. You need to check that blog out if you are a window peeper like I am! There are so many great rooms featured there!

I will be taking the 4th of July off to enjoy my little family! We have planned an outdoor movie night on our semi-pimped patio and the weather is so great right now. See you Friday!

Hey Kristin! Your living room looks amazing! I love your great mix of patterns. I have those same pillows from Lowes. They were such a great deal. Your library wall really takes center stage with all that beautiful lighting.

I’m addicted to your blog now, lol. Have you refaced the fireplace or reupholstered the chairs yet? Looking forward to that- those things have been on my to-do list for about a year now :)

    • BLISS AT HOME says

Hi Mayra :) I am actually in the middle of refacing the fireplace right now and will hopefully be sharing it next week sometime. The chairs, sadly, no. Haven’t found the fabric yet, but it’s on the radar to get done. Thanks for reading :) xo Kristin

Though they are simple changes, they make a world of difference. I love the choice in color and how you accented the color with the furniture and decor. Very nice job. Looks great.
