Good Morning!!
Big happy snowflakes fell down yesterday. It puts me in a good mood. Looking outside and seeing a blanket of white brightens the winter gloom around here. Thank you mother nature!
Even though we are in throes of winter, I start thinking about spring and how I’m going to brighten my surroundings. If you saw the booty from our treasure hunting you might already know where I’m going with this.
So, without further ado here’s
What I’m loving right now…
Chinoiserie

Blue and White China
chi·noi·se·rie [sheen-wah-zuh-ree]
Chinoiserie is a design and artistic style that depicts traditional Asian and Chinese motifs. Literally translated from French as “Chinese-esque,” this style of decorative art originated in 17th-century Europe and was especially popular in the mid-18th century. I am a little obsessed with it right now. I’m flirting with buying a whole bunch of ginger jars and displaying them on a table.
Bring it home…
Classic Ginger Jars & Vase CWonder $58-$78, Foo Dog Set CWonder $58, Gold Garden Stool One Kings Lane $ 99, Three Hands Coral Accent Table Target $99, Ikat Turtle Cylinder Ginger Jar CWonder $58, 22″ Ginger Jar Gourd Vase Williams-Sonoma $375
Embrace it in your space…
Some great ways to bring chinoiserie into your home: Greek key fabrics, ornate bird cages, display blue and white china in collections, garden stools, Asian animal figurines, ottoman benches, and bamboo accents on furniture and accessories.
The Blue Willow china pattern is popular and easy to find. Thrift stores and antique stores usually have a great selection at low prices. Etsy also offers a lot of chinoiserie items from fabrics, pillows, paintings, and vintage decor.
I had fun playing around with some of the chinoiserie objects I already own. I didn’t realize how much Asian inspiration I had going on in my house already!
Are you enjoying the chinoiserie home decor that is re-emerging in home collections from discount stores to high-end retailers?

I like the look, it just doesn’t work in my house
That’s ok, I can just drool over your photos!
I hear ya! Sometimes I see all the awesome things other bloggers are doing and I leave drooling, but know it isn’t for me. xo Kristin
Love the blue and white!! I’m crocheting a blue and white afghan for my bedroom right now
That is one thing I wish I knew how to do. That sounds wonderful! xo Kristin
I do love the “chinoiserie”; it looks great in your space, I’ve seen them around those big vases and always want to buy one but I will have to wait for now!
Those vases, jars, and urns can have a pretty hefty price tag that’s for sure! I find a lot of great things thrifting so it makes it so affordable. xo Kristin

Funny how blue-and-white is catching my eye at every turn these days so it’s fun seeing how you can mix it into your own decor. Let the blue-and-white next with the black and white.
Siri doesn’t always get it right. Last sentence should read love the way you’ve mixed blue and white with your black and white.
That’s the truth! Thanks, Lulu! xo Kristin
