Day 14 FALL FIREPLACE
Hi, Friends!
Let’s keep on counting down!!!
Stay with me today, this is work in progress. Here is the one place in my living room that leaves me a little like “What do I do with this?”
I am a traditional fireplace kind of girl. I love a real burning fireplace, don’t get me wrong, but this one is a challenge. It is stuck in a corner, massive, no mantel, and not my style.
But, on the flip side, I have grown to like it. The stone is beautiful and cut in a linear pattern I enjoy and it really does mix up my traditional senses in this room to add some interest.
The goal eventually is to add a mantle and new fireplace screen, but I think that is #27 on our list of things to improve in this house!
Here’s what I did to add a little fall to this place and I think it works out.
This festive time of season always makes me want to throw some twinkle lights up somewhere. This corner is perfect for it at night because it tends to be on the dim side. Cozy, right?
I can’t wait to get our firewood delivery and stock that entire right side up high with wood! One sad little log isn’t going to do! At least, the grapevine leaves add a little interest. The lack of a fireplace mantle, doesn’t lend a lot of opportunity to get creative, but I’m going with it!
Happy Fall, Y’all!
Okay, you’ve given me permission to put little lights up! Love how they look around your fireplace.
Thanks, Jayne! Do it! Do it! xoxo Kristin
I don’t have much of a mantle either, but when the fire is burning who cares. I can see where adding a mantle to your stone surface would be terrific.
It really is all about just enjoying the fire, isn’t it? Very happy we have a fireplace. We spend a lot of nights all cuddled up by it reading, and playing games. The kids adore it
xo Kristin
I think it looks really cute and simple. I love lights in any style and the fall garland had perfect colors. I really like the mirror. It makes it look as if there’s a window.
Thanks, Joy. The mirror was a pick up on Clearance at TJ Maxx a while back. The is actually an outlet it covers, very strange! I want to eventually get a grander mirror that fits the space better, but it does the trick right now
Kristin
I love a wood burning fireplace. I grew up with one in our house but haven’t had the experience of it in too long. Here in Toronto, the by laws or so strange and it is difficult to get a real fire place. Nothing can replace that amazing smell. Enjoy it for me as well
It looks great!
Hopefully, soon the nights will be ideal for some fires
I guess that is a bonus of living in a older home. I don’t think they put them into new builds around here, everyone seems to have gas. Happy Fall Tomorrow!!! xo Kristin
I love older homes. I know new homes all have gas, what a shame. Nothing replaces the sight, sound and smell of a wood burning fireplace. Happy Fall to you as well, it sure feels like fall today in Toronto! <3
love these decorations! so festive yet so homey!
Thank YOU! xo Kristin
I am ALL about the twinkle lights, too! Yours look so sweet with the leaves.
Thank you so much! xo Kristin
I love it, you have inspired me to get my butt in gear and decorate for fall, I don’t want to put away all of my pretty summer colors.
Yay! Do it! Do it! xo Kristin
